Using guided meditation, yoga postures, and dialogue, I assist the client in exploring the connection between your mind, body, and emotions. Each session is an opportunity to learn from your inner teacher.
This body/mind yoga therapy provides an opportunity for the client to gain access to their inner wisdom for healing and understanding. One of the main concepts of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is that our bodies hold memory much like our brains do. Clients use movement to stimulate the memories that reside in their muscles and organs. Using guided meditation and dialogue, the client brings these memories to light and apply what they learn to their everyday life.
Psychotherapists are referring clients to me who have become stuck or need to explore emotions and memories locked in their bodies. Clients who have experienced abuse and disassociate have found their sessions especially valuable. Body and energy workers refer people to explore verbally what comes up for them during sessions. A chiropractor is refering her clients to explore the connection between their injuries and their minds and emotions. Friends refer friends because they are learning new ways to tap into their inner wisdom and affect changes in their minds, bodies, and emotions.
What I liked about yoga therapy was how symbolic pictures came forward that had powerful meanings for me
- Shawn's work seems to tap into the pre-verbal in ways that talk therapy cannot.
